There is a street in Madrid that shows us what could’ve been… A few two-stories houses, with enclosed balconies supported by thin metal pillars, are the last ones from the late XIX century project known as Madrid Moderno.
It was a real treat to work on a piece of history, accommodating the needs and wants of the new owners while staying true to the original charm of the property.
We designed tailor-made furniture that met the family’s specific storage and comfort requirements: (1) to boost the feeling of openness, we designed an L-shaped, green, velvety built-in banquette along two of the walls in the living room; (2) the attic, now the master bedroom with en-suite full bath and home office area, got a full makeover and a beautiful white and dark blue library along two and half of its walls.
Having a private backyard in the middle of a big city is both a privilege and a responsibility: one must enjoy it to the fullest! We made sure of that with floor to ceiling glass panels, that can be entirely opened, to offer a seamless flow from the dining area to the garden.
