For this project, I was fortunate enough to work with architect Beatriz Berian at Naço, Paris. We designed the logistic center for Fnac Europe in the Wissous industrial area, north of Paris’ Orly airport.
The perfect partnership of architecture and design, the glass and steel structure stands out from other industrial buildings around it. We wanted to bring life to it by creating dynamism with a touch of surprise. The use of vertical and horizontal lines gained especial importance to soften the otherwise, all-too-common, cubic-shaped structure. The solid and hollow weatherboarding, the coronets, overlaps, and awnings offer an ever-changing aspect to the building with the shadows playing on the façade and ground as the sun moves.
As a way of a petit homage to the nearby runways, we painted all the building’s foundations in black to create the impression the building was in suspension… just taking off.
